SFX-IT for programmers is a flexible solution regardless of what level your Swedish is at or how you prefer to study. Together with C3L, you decide the duration of your studies. You can choose to study up to six study periods, which roughly translates into a year and a half. If you complete the Swedish as a second language, basic (levels after SFI D) within this timeframe, you are offered the opportunity to study SVA at upper secondary level.

The purpose of the education is to give you, who are a programmer from another country, possibility to quickly learn Swedish and become available on the labor market. This is also a good solution for you who already have a job as a programmer but need to learn Swedish to be able to continue working in Sweden.

How do you study?

At SFX-IT, you have two opportunities for study form.

  1. SFX-IT Remote daytime:
    The education takes place at distance in a virtual classroom with remote lessons daytime. The education corresponds to full-time studies. You work independently according to a study plan based on the course you are studying and you are expected to submit assignments continuously. All communication takes place via Google Classroom and email. Some tests, including national tests, take place on site at the school in Tyresö.
  2. SFX-IT Remote evening:
    The training takes place at distance in a virtual classroom with one lesson per week in the evening. You work independently according to a study plan based on the course you are studying and you are expected to submit assignments continuously. In web lessons, the teacher will primarily focus on oral training. All communication takes place via Google Classroom and email. Some tests, including national tests, take place on site at the school in Tyresö.

Who can apply?

You need to be a trained programmer, for example holding a Bachelor's or Master's degree or other certification in a programming-oriented IT subject. You need to be able to speak and understand English. You can be a beginner to the Swedish language but you must not have completed Swedish as a second language, module 4.

How do I apply?

You apply online. Fill in the application as instructed, print it out and submit it at an SFI center or Komvux center in your local municipality, along with a copy of your grades in SFI/SVA and your IT and programming skills.

Courses

Compulsory courses:

  • Swedish as a second language with an IT focus from SFI C to Swedish as a second language, basic (levels after SFI D)
    Course description: You start at your current Swedish comprehension level. In addition to providing a linguistic basis, the Swedish taught is adjusted specifically to the demands of a programmer. The teaching aims to provide students with concepts and methodology linked to the IT industry in Sweden. The courses end with a certificate or a grade.

Eligible courses:

  • Programming 1 with C#, daytime or online
    The course covers concepts such as data storage and data processing, logic, vectors, methods, objects, class libraries and file management.
  • Programming 2 with C#, daytime or online
    The course covers among others object-oriented programming, encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, UML, interface and communication.
  • Orientation course certificate (programming project)
    We offer course packages to those who want to get official certificates from Udemy in any programming language. You study yourself with the help of online courses and instructional videos as well as exercises. Udemy is a comprehensive and well-regarded actor in online education and certificates, where in addition they also offer lifetime access to content that is continuously updated with the latest technologies.

Course length:

2-6 study periods (decided individually). One period is about 10 weeks.

Financial support:

This course allows financial support from CSN after finishing SFI D level

Experience within programming. Knowledge in English.

Grading:

Grades and certificates will be given after passing courses within SFX-IT

Free of charge. Course material is included.
