SFI – Swedish for immigrants
New rules for SFI
New rules for SFI will be introduced on 1 January 2026. The new regulations imply that every student has the right to study SFI for three years. For those who are already enrolled in SFI, the three-year period will begin on 1 January 2026.
These rules are being introduced to ensure that more people learn Swedish more quickly and can move on to work or further studies. It is therefore important that you are active and participate in the course.
In certain cases, the study period may be extended. If you are unsure how the new rules affect you, please speak with your teacher or study counsellor.
